He was certainly an atheist. He was an extremely disturbed individual who _was not legally able to
buy a gun_ except that the Air Force did not report his conviction for violent crimes to the civil
authorities. His neighbors and friends who have been interviewed don't seem to describe him as a
"redneck" or "right-wing" or any of the things you wish he were
