I call my neice and one of my brothers AppleSeed.
They know it's meant as a playful tease. (That brother
still likes to refer to "Wintel" and says he doesn't
have anything against Windows... that he'll probably
try it once it gets cheap enough to show up as a
prize in a cereal box.
The sad part is that he's now on a very limited
retirement income, yet has gone into credit card
debt in order to buy a new Mac when he could have
had a new Windows PC for $300.
Part of the reason I use the word AppleSeed is that
it's a humorous way to make a point. There's a religious
vehemence among many Apple devotees that many
people are not aware of. AppleSeed highlights the
devotion and also the evangelical bent. An Apple
user is not the same thing as an AppleSeed. But
an AppleSeed will usually think the word refers to
all Apple users. Because that's the way they think.
It's religion for them.
But since Lord Jobs is no longer here to address
this issue we'll never know whether AppleSeed is
truly a sin against the Apple Church.
