Las Vegas police are investigating reports of an active gunman 
near the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino on the city's famous 

Multiple casualties are reported after the shooting during a 
country music festival at about 10.20pm on Sunday local time 
(6.20am BST).

One Twitter user reported that the Mandalay was on lockdown. 
Another said that two gunmen were shooting from the 32nd floor 
of the hotel.

It is not yet clear how many people have been injured, but 
witnesses are reporting multiple casualties.

The shooting was reported during the Route 91 Harvest Festival, 
an open-air country concert, on the Las Vegas Strip.

Las Vegas Police urged people to avoid the area.

Flashes reported from hotel as gunfire rains down on concert
Concert-goers reported seeing flashes from the upper floors of 
the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

Witnesses said they saw multiple victims as they fled the 
gunfire raining down on the open-air concert venue nearby.

Police officers were seen taking cover behind their vehicles 
while others carrying assault rifles ran into the Mandalay Bay.

Some concern goers sought refuge in the basement of the nearby 
Tropicana hotel and casino.

Las Vegas flights halted amid shooting
As the situation remains active, Las Vegas's McCarran 
international airport has temporarily halted all inbound and 
outbound flights.

One suspect is 'down', say police
Police in Las Vegas say that one suspect is "down" after the 
mass shooting. It is not known if any other attackers are at

goers could be seen running for cover and crouching down to

A Las Vegas Hospital spokesman has confirmed that at least two 
people have been killed and 24 injured with suspected gunshot 
wounds. At least 14 of the injured are said to be in a critical

have not been verified.
