I doubt it.  The primary argument about this set of playoffs?  Alabama didn't deserve to be there. 
Not that somebody else did.  Although there were teams arguing for that slot (Ohio State, UCF), none
of them were really considered for #1 going into the selection.  I don't see how this set of
playoffs is going to lead to an 8 team playoff any more than the year they took Ohio State over TCU
and Baylor.
