I watched it when I got home last night. Apparently I fell asleep in the middle, woke up this
morning in my chair and it was over. I'll have to watch it again.

Pretty cool to see a cat like this. I assume they will release it when it can survive on it's own. I
wonder what happened to mommy.

Those rangers are pretty dopey if they're keeping it in an open cage like in the video. Wild cats
aren't comfortable without some sort of small den-like, semi-enclosure, at least, to protect their
back.

In North America, they have to be feral but some of their ancestors have been feral since Spanish
colonial times, so they are well-established.

Will answered already. North America's original horse species became extinct in North America but
their descendants migrated to Eurasia where they were eventually domesticated. The Spanish then
brought them back to the 'New World' and some escaped and became feral. That was in the 1600s.

An interesting side note is that the Sioux Indians originally inhabited the Midwest. Anglo-European
encroachment forced them to migrate to the Great Plains. They traveled on foot and when they changed
camp they would have their few goods pulled on pole drags by many hundreds of dogs. This is where
the custom developed of leaving behind elderly who couldn't keep pace with the rest of the band.

But they soon discovered herds of wild horses in the Plains which had escaped the Spanish. They
captured them and soon became great horsemen who hunted buffalo and began living a rich life
compared to their previous existence.. They now pulled their more abundant camp equipment on pole
drags behind horses and abandoned the practice of leaving behind the elderly.

Very good summary but the move was _indirectly_ caused by the European incursion. The Europeans
caused one of the big Algonquin-speaking tribes to shift to the west, simultaneously providing them
with some firearms, and they, in turn, caused the Lakota to move. I think it was the Chippewa but it
might have been the Cree.
