I'm completely blown away that a American legislature (even one as backward as Georgia's) would use
the law to punish a private company for not freely associating with another private organization.
This is something I'd expect to read about in Cuba or the Soviet Union.

The crazy thing is that the tax break was initially touted by Republicans as *absolutely essential*
to maintaining Georgia and Atlanta's competitiveness as a hub in the aviation industry. Now they're
throwing that away to avenge their NRA masters? LOL

I actually remember when the US was a free country. Republicans are the phoniest people on the face
of the Earth.

The real maroons are the evil Republicans who will have to explain to the sane half of their
constituency why Delta packed up and moved hubs.

Now they're throwing that away to avenge their NRA masters? LOL

They may have just avenged themselves out of the new Amazon Headquarters
too.

Why would any business relocate to a state where its incentives for
locating there in the first place (like Delta's) are in danger of simply
being rescinded over childish political pique? (And whatever happened
to smaller, less-intrusive government?)

Amazon already has something of a history of being on the right side of
certain social issues (they have a Director of Social Responsibility).

Lawmaker: Georgia GOP Working to Mend Delta Rift Over NRA
Associated Press

ATLANTA — Republicans competing to become Georgia's next governor united Tuesday behind a charge
to punish Delta Air Lines for cutting business ties with the National Rifle Association, while the
state's term-limited GOP governor and others refrained from commenting publicly as officials worked
behind the scenes to resolve the feud.

States Seek to Lure Delta as Georgia Moves Forward on Threat

HARTFORD, Conn. — Some states are taking advantage of a dispute between Georgia and Atlanta-based
Delta Air Lines over the company's decision to cut ties with the National Rifle Association, urging
the airline to relocate.
Governors from Connecticut, New York and Virginia have pitched their states to the airline. A
congressman from Ohio and the mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, also have reached out to Delta in recent
days.
