What movies did r.a.m.c-f see this year and how do you rate them?

Movies from 2017 that I’ve seen:

The Lego Batman Movie - 7/10 - a kids movie but funny nonetheless.

John Wick: Chapter 2 - 5/10 - the gun porn is cool but it’s nowhere near as good as the 1st movie.

The Great Wall - 2/10 - while SFX are kinda cool, the story is flat-out retarded.

Logan - 5/10 - predictable comic book movie but still watchable.

Kong Skull Island - 7/10 - pretty good.

Ghost In The Shell - 6/10 - not bad but predictable.

Alien: Covenant - 7/10 - cool movie, though I didn’t care for the bummer story.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - 2/10 - mostly shit.

Wonder Woman - 4/10 - generic comic book flick.

The Mummy - 5/10 - would have been better with someone other than Tom Cruise.

Spider-Man: Homecoming - 8/10 - one of the better comic book movies.

Dunkirk - 4/10 - nice cinematography but the movie is boring as hell.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets - 5/10 - very good SFX but a shit story.

I get to the theater about once a year, and this year saw War of the Planet of the Apes. I would
rate it 8/10, a fitting finish to the POTA reboot trilogy. I hope Andy Serkis will eventually get
some sort of special recognition from the Oscars for lifetime achievement for his work with CGI
performance capture acting, as his performance as Caesar was outstanding but is ineligible for Oscar
consideration.

Yeah, I think I gave it a 7/10, though I think Andy Serkis's performance
was top-notch, which might have made it an 8/10.

I doubt the MPAA cares at all about CGI/Motion capture and I would not
expect them to ever change. But then again I don't know why anyone pays
the slightest attention to the clusterfuck that is the Academy Awards at
all. I stopped caring when they gave the steaming pile of crap that was
_Gandhi_ Best Picture.

I always thought Tootsie should have won for Best Picture over Gandhi. That being said, Gandhi was
a better movie than the Best Picture winner from the year before, Chariots of Fire, which had no
business winning over Raiders of the Lost Ark IMO.

I've never been a fan of COF or Raiders, I would've picked On Golden
Pond or even Atlantic City over either of them (Reds is worth a watch
every now and then but I've never been that crazy about it).

Raiders is a very good film, artfully made. It may well be Spielberg's
best film. It is vastly underrated because it's an action/adventure, so
is immediately dismissed from even the possibility of being art.
