Yes, interesting and original. Makes me think of the Buffy episode 
"Hush" where long periods of silence added to the suspense.

A lot will depend on how the attacks are presented.Is the menace 
invisible, or does something pop up and get you?

I hope they do it Castle style, and have somebody go around the theater 
to hit people who are talking.
