"Europe Report" was a near perfect scifi. Look for life on a moon of Jupiter. A couple moons of
Jupiter and Saturn have come to the fore as the main candidates for life in our solar system outside
Earth since Mars is a dry, dead rock. If you haven't seen it, I won't ruin it, but IMO, it was pure
scifi the way it should be. You have to know something about planetary astronomy to fully
appreciate how alien such an environment in the movie would be. Unlike Mars which is a relative
neighbour to Earth, Jupiter and its moons are 10x further away and nothing like Earth or Mars.

It was probably the best of the "Found Footage" films I've ever seen.

Yes, it managed to make something out of that overused movie cliche.

Sounds a little like Apollo 18 which I liked but I was probably in the
severe minority.

As opposed to Trump's chick Stormy Daniels, who'd be silicone based life.

You're a Trump guy, Rich, how come you haven't opened your fat fucking
mouth about this episode?

Of Saturn’ moons, only Europa is a candidate for life due to
the presence of liquid water under the icy outer surface but
it’s still possible for there to be life on Mars, which would be
in the form of bacteria and such.

But the goal isn’t looking for life, it’s colonizing other worlds
and Mars is the best real estate in the solar system after Earth.

Speaking of...The U.S. is going to cringe if China builds Project Orion. Whoever builds it
dominates space. Chemical rockets belong in 13th century China.

The method of going there is less important than actually getting off
our asses and going there.

I heard the Chinese are looking to go to the Moon, which is a waste
of time IMO as it’ll always be a dead world and even assuming there’s
water there, (probably) any colony will effectively be a (under)ground
based space station forever.

The idea is that the Moon base would act as a prototype for a future
Mars colony but the cost and effort will be essentially the same and
the fact is, we have the capability to go to Mars today and had the
U.S. not scrapped its space program in the 70s, we’d already be there.

The method is all that matters. They can build Space-X crap and Russian junk until the cows come
home. Orion can lift 10,000 TONS, enough to put a base on the Moon in one shot.

The method will simply be used as a corporate welfare scheme, (which
is all NASA is nowadays) with bazillions spent for essentially zero return,
as the Moon is a dead end.

The marketing program being shilled that going to the Moon again is some
kinda practice run for going to Mars is a scam, we can go to Mars with the
tech we have today (we could have gone in the 70s) and the money should
be spent on that, not on a fancy new rocket system.

What makes that even more amazing is that Europa is one of Jupiter's

I remember a documentary on the Discovery Channel about 20 years ago (remember when they played
nothing but science and nature documentaries?) about Europa. They were interviewing a scientist
about an idea he had for sending an unmanned probe to Europa that would bore a hole thru the ice
that was large enough to drop a remote controlled submersible type thing into the water underneath
the ice to explore the oceans and report back what if anything is down there.

Two messages were found in the water. One read "Not Penny's Boat" and the other read "Get Out"

It almost sounds like this might be a past film rather than a current film.
