A gun is like a parachute. If you need one and don't have
one, you'll probably never need one again.

Agreed. Right wing people are so fucking stupid they probably find
themselves in situations needing parachutes rather often.

If I were on a plane and saw the flight attendants putting on parachutes
I wouldn't be happy. That's what it's going to be like for kids when
their teachers start packing heat.

Reminds me of the "duck and cover" era when I sat there watching the
window for the flash.

OTOH, there's a possibility to make school more fun: Dress up the place
like a western saloon. Teach the boys to play poker; make the
cheerleaders into dancing girls.

At least that would give more schools a reason to bring back music programs.

Any science class that can't make its own WMD doesn't deserve funding...

We had lead-lined curtains and the teacher would close them, then hide
in the closet.

That wasn't too smart. If you saw the flash, you'd be blinded instantly.
Better to *avoid* looking at the windows if you were anticipating that
flash.

Having a parachute is going to be a "massive help" when a looney with a
gun enters the building. ;-)

Trump's approval rating now higher than Obama's

"President Donald Trump’s approval rating is now higher than former President Barack Obama’s at
this point in his presidency, according to the results of a daily poll released Tuesday.

As of Tuesday, 50 percent of likely voters in the United States approved of Trump’s job
performance, according to the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll. On this date
during year two of Obama’s first term, 43 percent of likely voters approved of how the president
was performing, the same poll found."

Now the dishonest dimwits on the left have been screeching that President Trump's approval
ratings are only 35%. The reason is, their biased polls do not look at "registered and likely
voters."
Instead, they just make random phone calls. Of course, these are the same people who
predicted, right up to election night, that Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 election in a
landslide.

The fact is, the American economy is soaring under President Trump's tax cut plan, unemployment is
at a record low, consumer confidence is at a record high and ISIS has been smashed. American
companies are creating millions of new jobs and bringing $hundreds of billions back into the US from
foreign countries. In addition, President Trump has eliminated thousands of job strangling
government bureaucratic rules and regulations.

The dishonest dimwits on the left are now desperately trying to claim that all of this new economic
success is really because Obama's failed policies magically started working after eight years of
stagnation. But, as the polls show, the American voters are not buying that nonsense. Voters also
know that
every single Democrat voted against President Trump's tax cut and jobs creation bill.

However, the best news is that President Trump announced that he is running for re-election in
2020!

Irish Mike

Obama's legacy is President Trump

Not if you give the guns to the right people. (The right people are the

The "right people" are those speciaifcally and properly trained ...
which is not every braindead numbnut on the high street who simply
*wants* a gun for the sake of it. :-\

Even then, there's no actual way to guarantee the "right people" won't
turn out to be loonies under unknown circumstances.

Absolutely nothing.
Besides, guns don't kill people, parachutes kill people.

They do. There have been people who had their parachute get stuck in a
tree and died before being found. There may also have been people who
have were smothered to death in a parachute. Not to mention those where
the parachute failed.

They do. There have been people who had their parachute get stuck in a
tree and died before being found. There may also have been people who

The parallel is still good: Parachutes don't kill people; people who
don't use parachutes properly kill people. Including, sometimes,
themselves.

To fully support the 2nd Amendment we should require that anyone
purchasing a gun submit evidence of membership in a well-regulated militia.

Nope. More like thay should have to go through a six-month "Gun Owners
Course" and pass the final exams, plus annual re-tests, plus have
weekly psychiatric assessments (of course, the simple fact that most
*want* to even own a gun without any actual *need* means they'll
instantly fail that last one).

Good luck with defining a "well regulated militia". I suspect that everyone
having their boots on the correct foot would be about the pass mark.

And btw; If the USA Constitution is so fucking sacrosanct, how did it get
Amendments?

States demanded variouis things before they would ratify. In this case,
some of them wanted to keep their own armies.

A lot of the rest of it -- freedom of speech and press, search and
seizure -- probably came from people who had lived under totalitarian
regimes in Europe. It was all about the central government not having
too much power. United STATES.

Go rent a copy of "1776." It will also tell you why our national bird is
an eagle, even though a turkey would be a better symbol of our current
society.

There might also be something about it in "Hamilton."

Yep...and the 2nd Amendment was passed so that southern states could
keep owning slaves:

Turkeys tasted too good for anyone to want to protect them as a national
treasure.
